Reliability Enhancement for Real-Time EtherCAT-Networked Cyber-Physical Systems
Abstract:
EtherCAT has become a cornerstone real-time Ethernet solution for industrial cyber-physical
systems, where reliable communication is critical in highly error-prone environments. While
significant progress has been made in clock synchronization and network timeliness, the central
challenge of ensuring system reliability under stringent timing and resource constraints remains
insufficiently addressed. In this talk, I will present a novel feedback control framework that
systematically enhances the reliability of real-time EtherCAT-networked cyber-physical systems.
Our approach goes beyond conventional retransmission strategies by employing forward error
control to achieve high reliability with minimal deadline violations. In addition, we leverage
cooperative game theory to design an efficient and fair error-resilient mechanism, specifically
tailored for distributed industrial environments. The talk will conclude with a discussion on the
broader implications of these methods for resilient industrial automation and the future
development of robust networked control systems.

Reconfigurable Smart Antenna Enabled Wireless Secure Communications
Abstract:
Electromagnetic space security is a critical domain of national security, and wireless communication
security serves as a vital component within it. Reconfigurable intelligent antennas (RSA), which enable
a paradigm shift for wireless communication from “channel adaptation” to “channel reconstruction”
through flexible adjustments of their spatial positions and radiation patterns, have been recognized
as a promissing technology for safeguarding future wireless networks. In this report, we will first
introduce the research background and motivation of RSA for wireless communication security.
Then we will share our recent achievements on wireless covert communications enabled by movable
antennas which is one novel kind of RSA. Finally, we will conclude our work with some open research
direction and challenges.
